creating original digital and interactive art since 1998 - gabe colors, maui oakland, inventor huedoku, colorbox, creator color is relative... etc.

Artist Statement:

I explore light, color and human interaction by painting, sculpting and producing interactive installations. My work illustrates the tension of entropy (a falling apart) vs. desire (the energy of convergence). I think it’s useful, if not valuable, to share how I see this attraction. My composition is a dynamic dance of energy’s envy of figure.

Color has been my last decade’s plus obsession. A core intention is to evangelize visual literacy and color grammar by furthering the legacy of the Albers’ Bauhaus color course preserved by Maui color master Dick Nelson. I’m committed to the objective aesthetic of color relationship, and its potency, when recognized in relationship, to “glow” or “clash” (and everything in between) as well as its ability to reveal bias and subjectivity beyond art-- just as color is relative, so is all of perception.

My work is shown and collected internationally.

Based in Oakland and Maui
